Heads Up, Travelers: Philippines to Increase Airport Terminal Fees Starting 2025

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) in the Philippines has confirmed plans to raise airport fees at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. This applies to both domestic and international travelers, and is expected to take effect in 2025.

What to Expect:

  • Increased Terminal Fees: The proposed new fee for international flights is P950, a significant jump from the current P550. Domestic flights are also likely to see an increase, though the exact amount hasn’t been finalized.
  • Funding Modernization: The Philippine government says this increase is necessary to fund much-needed upgrades and improvements at NAIA. The airport currently handles a large volume of passengers and could benefit from modernization efforts.

What We Don’t Know Yet:

  • Final Fee Amounts: The P950 figure for international flights is a proposal, and the final approved amount could be higher or lower. The exact increase for domestic flights is also still under discussion.
  • Cabinet Approval: The proposal requires a green light from the Philippine Cabinet before it can be implemented.

What This Means for You:

If you’re planning a trip to the Philippines in 2025 or later, factor in the potential for higher airport fees when budgeting for your travel costs.

Looking Ahead:

While the fee increase might be a burden for travelers, it could ultimately lead to a more efficient and comfortable travel experience at NAIA. Stay tuned for further updates as the Philippine government finalizes the details of this proposal.

Passengers currently have to pay a Php550 terminal fee for international trips and Php200 for domestic journeys. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) – or those who work abroad are exempted from these charges.
