P60,000 Reasons to Apply Now: OWWA Opens Scholarship Doors for OFW Dependents!

Are you a child or sibling of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) with big dreams for college but worried about the cost? Good news – OWWA just opened its scholarship programs for School Year 2025–2026, and it could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

What’s the Buzz All About?

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has officially launched the application period for two of its most sought-after scholarship programs:

  1. Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)
  2. OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP)

Applications are open until July 31, 2025—but don’t wait till the last minute! Spots are limited, and thousands of hopefuls are already lining up.

What’s In It for You?

EDSP: Up to ₱60,000 per school year

  • For qualified dependents of active OWWA members
  • Must be enrolled in 2nd to 5th year in a CHED-recognized college/university
  • General average of 85% or higher, no failing grades
  • Age limit: under 30 years old

ODSP: ₱20,000 grant per year

  • For children/siblings of OFWs earning $1,000 or less per month
  • Open to incoming freshmen (≤21 y/o) and continuing students (≤30 y/o)
  • Minimum GWA of 75%

How to Apply

All applications must be submitted online through the OWWA Scholarship Portal:

  • Valid IDs and birth certificates
  • Academic records (report cards or transcripts)
  • Proof of OFW income and OWWA membership

Why This Matters

For many OFW families, these scholarships are more than just financial aid—they’re a lifeline toward a better future. Education can open doors, break the cycle of poverty, and honor the sacrifices made by OFWs around the world.

So if you or someone you know qualifies, now’s the time to apply. Every peso of this scholarship is a reminder that your dreams are valid, and support is within reach.
