Solemnization of Marriage at the Embassy, check out the requirements

Getting married in Oman if you are an OFW is not so common because we prefer to fly back to our home country and get married and celebrate the union with our loved ones. However, some decided to do it here in Oman and others have their own circumstances and reasons.

It is possible to get married in Oman where you have many options and are supposed to follow the rules that come along.

To give you information on what are the requirements that you need to accomplish before your marriage, we took the following information from the Philippine Embassy in Oman’s website particularly the requirements for Solemnization of Marriage (For Filipino Couples)/Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage

So, let’s get into it…

The Embassy solemnizes marriages between Filipino citizens only. The legal marrying age for Filipino citizens is eighteen (18) years. However, a person to be married who is below 24 years old has to secure the CONSENT of his/her parents.

  • Parents Affidavit of Consent to be subscribed by a Notary Public and authenticated by DFA. (for ages 24 and below).
  • Application for Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage with notarization.
  • Joint Affidavit of Contracting Parties.
  • Joint Affidavit of Witnesses.
  • Photocopies of the passports and labor cards of the applicants.
  • Three (3) passport size pictures of the contracting parties.
  • Photocopies of the passports and labor cards of the witnesses.
  • Presence of the witnesses during the wedding ceremony.
  • Payment: Rials Omani seventy-four (R.O. 74.000)

Note:

  • Formal Attire for the contracting parties.
