Sec. Hans Leo Cacdac expresses gratitude following retention as DMW Secretary

Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac expressed deep gratitude and renewed commitment to serving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s decision to retain him as the Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

In a heartfelt message, Secretary Cacdac said he was “deeply humbled” by the President’s continued trust and confidence in his leadership. “This renewed vigor is a motivation to continually dedicate myself in the service of our beloved overseas Filipino workers and their families,” he said.

Cacdac extended his appreciation to the OFW community, their families, stakeholders, and the DMW staff for their unwavering support. He assured the public that their trust will not go to waste, emphasizing the department’s shared mission of building a future where every OFW is “safe, empowered, and valued.”

Under the administration’s guidance, Secretary Cacdac vowed that the DMW will remain firm in protecting the rights and welfare of OFWs. He reiterated that the department will continue to elevate its services to ensure convenience and comfort for OFWs, whom he described as the country’s “VIPs” and “Bagong Bayani ng Mundo” (Modern-Day Heroes of the World).

Among the department’s key initiatives and legacy projects are:

  • OFW Lounges at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3
  • The Seafarers Hub
  • Migrants Brew Café
  • Bagong Pilipinas One-Stop OFW AKSYON Center
  • The upcoming OFW Hospital Cancer Care Center

Cacdac also highlighted ongoing digitalization efforts across OFW documentation and processes, made possible through collaboration with partner government agencies. These improvements aim to deliver more responsive and seamless public service.

“These are just some of the many initiatives we are undertaking to ensure the protection and well-being of our modern-day heroes and their families,” he said.

He concluded his message by thanking President Marcos once again for the continued trust and guidance, pledging to push forward the DMW’s mission in building a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) where migrant workers remain a national priority.
