Coronavirus: Procedures for arriving OFWs


Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Quarantinve OperationQuarantinve Operation have released a procedure for arriving OFWs as of May 11, 2020

Step 1:

  • Arriving OFWs will immediately have swab test at the airport. This is administered by Philippine Red Cross and Philippine Coast Guard.
  • While waiting for the swab test results at quarantine facilities, OWWA will continuously provide accommodation and food assistance.

Step 2:



  • Swab test results will be released by the Philippine Red Cross.
  • Philippine Red Cross submits results to the Bureau of Quarantine. This will take approximately 3-5 days. If tested negative, they are allowed to go home. If tested positive, they are endorsed/referred to hospitals
  • If cleared, Bureau of Quarantine issues individual certificates.
  • Department of Interior & Local Government coordinates with home Local Government Unit.

Step 3:

  • Transportation assistance will be provided by the Department of Transportation.
  • OWWA will shoulder costs for mercy flights and voyages to Visayas and Mindanao

Step 4:

  • Home sweet Home
