In an online interview of OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac with Tristan Nodalo of CNN, Cacdac says that the Labor Department requested an additional P7.5 billion funds for the repatriation expenses of returning OFWs until the end of December 2021. The DBM has released P3.3B on Wednesday.
OWWA Chief Hans Cacdac says 10,500 OFWs are still in quarantine hotels nationwide. 8,500 of them are in 178 hotels in Metro Manila
Hans Cacdac added that the government spends an average ₱15,000-P20,000 per OFW.
This covers the mandatory 10-day hotel quarantine, transportation and meal allowances.
OFWs coming from countries included in the travel ban will cost more which is around ₱20,000-40,000 due to the mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine requirement.
