Oman prepares for mass vaccination drive – new target groups include higher education institutions, educational staff

The ministerial team on immunization against Covid 19 has said that more than one million doses of vaccines will be received in June, and the number of vaccinated people will reach 1. 5 million by the end of June, including new target groups.

The team said that the target groups include those over the age of 45, pilgrims, citizens of Musandam Governorate, front lines, including health workers and employees in government institutions, Royal Oman Police, Sultan’s Armed Forces, higher education institutions, educational staff, and Grade 12 students in schools, employees vital sectors such as oil and gas sector, ports, airports, and a number of private sector institutions.

The team explained that the deployment of vaccines will take place through the opening of vaccination centers in all governorates of the Sultanate, including the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, which is currently being prepared for this purpose, sports complexes in the Governorate of Muscat, and schools and sports complexes in other governorates.

He pointed to the formation of mobile teams to immunize all workers in government institutions, and to provide Covid 19 vaccines to the private sector through clinics in large companies, and in private health, institutions licensed to administer the vaccine.
