Mall of Oman on track to open in early 2021

Dubai-based retail giant Majid Al Futtaim has announced it is on track to deliver its Mall of Oman project early next year.

The company said the mall has reached an important milestone after signing a deal with retail giant Apparel Group.

The global conglomerate will bring a host of fashion, lifestyle, and F&B brands to the mall in anticipation of its March 2021 opening.

Mall of Oman, Majid Al Futtaim’s fifth and biggest lifestyle destination in the sultanate, will have 145,000 sq m of retail space, dining outlets and a range of lifestyle experiences.

The mall will also include Oman’s largest VOX Cinemas, a Magic Planet family entertainment centre, a 12,200 sq m Carrefour Hypermarket and the largest indoor snow park in the country.

The list of global brands being onboarded by Apparel includes Garage, LC Waikiki and Levi’s, Inglot and Rituals, Molten Chocolate Café and Tim Horton’s.

Mall of Oman will also welcome Dutch variety store HEMA and clothing retailer New Yorker to the country for the very first time.

The confirmed Apparel Group brands will be taking up a gross leasable area of 10,000 sq m.

Nilesh Ved, chairman of Apparel Group said:  “We believe in being ‘forever future ready’ and with this prudence we have captured key markets and prime locations in the GCC way before our competitors analyze the landscape. Our next strategic venture is with Mall of Oman, where in we launch some of our prestigious global brands, which is certain to create the much needed high street shopping ambience for the local consumers.”

Fuad Sharaf, managing director of UAE, Oman and Bahrain Shopping Malls, at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said: “Mall of Oman will offer an unparalleled shopping, dining and entertainment experience in the country, ultimately creating great moments for everyone, every day.

“Our strategic partnerships with companies such as Apparel Group reinforce our commitment to providing residents and tourists from across Muscat and the region with holistic shopping experiences.”
