Holidays for Eid al-Fitr announced in Oman

The Minister of Labour has issued a ministerial decision on the Eid al-Fitr holiday for the year 1442 for employees in the units of the state administration and employees private sector establishments from May 12. He said that holidays will end according to the following two alternatives.

  1. If the first day of Eid falls on Thursday, May 13, the holidays end on Saturday, May 15, with work to resume May 16.
  2. If the first day of Eid falls on Friday, May 14, the holidays end on Monday, May 17, with the work to resume on Tuesday, May 18.

Business owners may, for workers in private sector establishments, employ them on a daily basis, if necessary, to work during this leave, provided that they are compensated for that.
