Eye test will be mandatory for issuance and renewal of driving license in Oman

The Royal Oman Police (ROP), represented by the Directorate General of Traffic, has said that an eye test, which is mandatory for the issuance and renewal of driving licenses can be done at one of the authorized optics shops in all governorates of the Sultanate.

The new rule comes into effect from October 1, 2018.

A statement added that the rest of the formalities for the issuance and renewal of new driving licenses will remain same at the respective ROP traffic departments.

Earlier in April this year, as part of simplifying services provided to citizens and residents in the Sultanate, Royal Oman Police (ROP) said motorists in Oman need not to submit photographs for renewal or replacement of driving license.

The ROP has recently updated a new system for recalling personal photos online from the General Directorate of Civil Status. Meanwhile, the ROP clarified that white background photos must be provided while filling a new driver’s license form or replacing a foreign license.
