Expat exit scheme extended until August 31, 2021

The Ministry of Labour on Wednesday extended the exit scheme for expats with expired work permits to leave the country permanently until August 31, 2021.

The scheme was first announced on November 15, 2020, with validity till December 31, 2020. That was extended till March 31, 2021, and now, till June 30.

A Twitter message from the Ministry of Labour said that due to the ongoing pandemic, the closing date for illegal emigrants to register for free exit on the ministry’s website will be August 31.

This period allows all undocumented workers to leave the country without any fine or legal implications. The Ministry of Labour has urged all who have not yet registered to come forward and register online and use the scheme. All undocumented workers and overstaying visitors can register at the ministry’s website (https://www.mol.gov.om/ManpowerAllEServices/Details/Registration-for-Departure-within-the-Grace-Period-306) or through Sanad offices.

The service aims to facilitate the resident departure procedures, and exemption from all fees and fines incurred due to work permits expiration or leaving work reports registered against them. After submitting the application electronically, the system sends the submitted application to both the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution Office for review and auditing purpose, and also the application details of those who wishing to leave will be published on the website of the Ministry, after approval and completion of 10 days of submitting the application, the applicant should visit the Ministry of Labor office at the airport (Travel time by at least 7 hours before), accompanied by the following:

– Valid travel documents

– Travel tickets, with confirmed reservations

– The medical examination (PCR) is valid for 72 hours
