Bayanihan 2 flight brings home 325 OFWs from UAE

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) chartered a Philippine Airlines flight on 16 June 2021 to bring home 325 OFW repatriates under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2, R.A. 11519). The repatriation flight was jointly coordinated by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.

Of the total 325 OFWs in the repatriation flight, 129 came from Abu Dhabi and 196 from Dubai. Aside from carrying OFWs who met difficulties during the pandemic, the flight also included medical patients and children.

Embassy, Consulate, POLO-OWWA, and DSWD officials and staff were on hand to oversee the departure of the repatriates from Dubai International Airport. They will be received upon arrival in NAIA by OUMWA-DFA, DSWD, OWWA and other agencies.

The Philippine government on Monday announced the extension of the ban on travellers coming from the UAE and six other countries until June 30. The restriction, imposed as part Covid safety measures, was supposed to end on June 15.
